Because NTR is the youngest super star (younger, of course, than Mahesh, Pawan, Prabhas and a lot more big stars), it is not surprising that he is getting to act with a heroine who is elder to him. Trisha Krishnan, his Dammu co-star, is 16 days elder to him. (While Trisha was born on May 4, 1983, NTR was born on May 20).
Trisha, it would seem, is one of the older actresses among the current lot. She is the big sister, so to speak. The 28-year old actress has always preferred to act with younger heroes for obvious reasons. (She made an exception for Chiranjeevi when AR Murugadoss’ (super flop script) Stalin came her way.) Her preference for younger heroes stems from the fact that acting opposite the boys would make her look tender. In any case, Trisha does look every bit youthful!
This is not the first time that Trisha is cast opposite a hero who is younger to her in age. In Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, her hero was younger to her by many months. (Shimbu was born in February 1984).
If at all NTR would have preferred to work with an older actress, it would have been the legendary Sridevi. Acting with Trisha, of course, has happened by chance because Shruthi Hassan could not give call sheets to Boyapati Seenu.
Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh will have to wait for some more weeks. Though Srikanth Addala had planned to start with the making of Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’s first schedule on Dec. 15, it seems he and the entire unit have to wait till the second week of January for a particular reason:Samantha Ruth Prabhu has no dates for Tollywood’s first mega multi-starrer.
Consequently, the shooting has been put on hold for some days. Samantha, the most hard-working actress that Mahesh had ever worked with (in Prince’s own words), is currently shooting for Autonagar Surya (where she is paired with Naga Chaitanya).
Coming to Venky, he is awaiting the release of Bodyguard on Jan. 12. He has an untitled film to be directed by Meher Ramesh; he will juggled SVSC and this one from Jan. Mahesh, who toiled along with Puri to complete The Businessman on schedule, awaits the biggest theatrical release in the history of Tollywood on Jan. 11.
He is getting to act with Samantha so very early after Dookudu. Meanwhile, Amala Paul has been finalized to play Venky’s wife in the movie, which is produced by Dil Raju on a vast scale.
The makers of The Businessman pushed the envelope by releasing the audio of their multi-crore film in three languages – Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. The event, held at Shilpa Kala Vedika in Hyderabad, was graced by D Ramanaidu, Krishna, Vijaya Nirmala, SS Rajamouli, Sreenu Vytla, Atchi Reddy, Anil Sunkara among others. Among the stars, Charmme, Namratha, Nisha Agarwal and others were conspicuous by their presence.
The Tamil audio was released by Krishna and his wife, the Malayalam audio by Rajamouli, and others, and the Telugu audio was released by Sreenu Vytla. The memory card was released by Mahesh himself.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna made a prediction on how much the film is going to collect. He said that TBM would collect Rs. 150 crore in three languages. “I thank the fans of Mahesh for coming here today. If Pokiri created new records in the 75 yeas of Telugu cinema, Dookudu created records unseen in its 80 years of history. This film is going to be an even bigger hit. Thaman has lent fantastic music.”
Ramanaidu hoped that Mahesh will register a super hit yet again. Atchi Reddy hailed Mahesh as the only hero with the stature to make a film earn a billion. Sreenu Vytla hoped that the film will be a bigger hit than his Dookudu. Dil Raju said that he would want to do a film in the combination of Mahesh and Puri.
Rajamouli went a step ahead by wishing that Mahesh gets the kind of craze in Tamil and Malayalam which Rajinikanth enjoys in Andhra Pradesh. “Whenever Puri delivers a hit, my wife gives me a lecture. She would ask me to go and learn the art of filmmaking from him. I will buddy up with him for at least two days. I would like to do a film with Mahesh. If fans decide which film to make, I will do either Alluri Seetharamaraju or Gudachari 116 with him,” he said.
When Mahesh’s turn came, the audience could went delirious. In his inimitable style, Prince gave a sugary speech. “I am very happy today. My Dookudu team is here for the event. I never knew when we started the movie and when it was finished. Puri Jagannadh would often tell me that the dialogues (in TBM) were not written by him but that he wrote it because he was possessed by me.” Mahesh said that all the technicians gave excellent output. He said that Kajal gave a good performance.
Puri Jagannadh averred that working with Mahesh Babu had become an addiction with him. After working with the superstar for two films, Puri appears to have come to believe that there was no better actor than Prince in being a director’s actor.
The film is set to release on Jan. 11 – the date from when the festive period would commence, as MB would say. The film is produced by RR Movie Makers on a gargantuan budget.
The Businessman’s re-recording works are on in Hyderabad. Puri Jagannadh, who completed the film on a war-footing as promised, took some time off to brief us about his film. Saying that the film will be released in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam world-wide on Jan. 11, he said that the songs picturized on Mahesh Babu and Kajal Agarwal have come out really well. The first copy will be available by month end.
It is known that the audio will be launched on Dec. 22.
“We are planning to release the movie on Jan. 11 in the highest number of theaters. The number of screens in which the film is going to be released is unprecedented in the history of Telugu cinema. The dialogues in the film will become more popular than the dialogues of Pokiri,” says a press release.
The makers also say that the theme song, which is rendered by Mahesh and Puri, will create a craze of its own.
Pokiri, released in 2006, was a run-away hit. The film is the best in the career of Prince till date. The film is remembered for the cheeky one-liners spouted by Mahesh. So much so, its lines are still used as spoofs in many movies.
Richa Gangopadhyaya is back in Telugu after Merapakai, which released in January this year. Although she is playing the second fiddle to Anushka Shetty in the movie, she is upbeat about her role in the very important film that stars Prabhas in the lead.
For a change, Richa is trying the role of an NRI here. Since she happens to have lived in America as a student, it should not be difficult for her to pull off the role because she would know the behaviour and the manners of non-resident Indians.
The film is set to release in the summer of 2012. Directed by Koratala Shiva, the film has music by Devi Sri Prasad.
She might have tough time competing with Anushka, who is definitely a bigger face than her. It is to be seen whether she will be able to outshine the dusky beauty. It becomes all the more important because Vaaradhi is the biggest film to have happened to her in a long time.
